Safeguarding

At Burnt Ash Primary School, we respect and value all children and are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all our pupils so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere.

We believe every pupil should be able to participate in all activities in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from harm. This is the responsibility of every adult employed by Burnt Ash Primary School.

We recognise our responsibility to safeguard all who access our school and promote the welfare of all our pupils by protecting them from physical, sexual, emotional abuse, neglect and bullying.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as:

  • protecting children from maltreatment;
  • preventing impairment of children’s physical and mental health or development;
  • ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and
  • taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

Safeguarding and promoting welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility.

It is important that children understand how to safeguard themselves. We ensure that children gain the necessary knowledge and understanding about how to protect themselves throughout their time at Burnt Ash Primary School. Safeguarding is an integral part of our curriculum and is delivered at an age appropriate level from the moment children start with us until they leave.

More information on the school’s procedures can be found in the safeguarding policy.
